The product works as an interface to associate the artworks with the records on blockchain. provides a visual representation of SRR and we call it Cert. Let’s introduce our other product, Startbahn Cert. And then, they transfer the SRR to the next owner along with the artwork. It’s usually issued by secondary markets. If it’s after that, we issue as secondary. In this case, typically the artist or primary gallery(galleries that have a contract with artists and sell their works as primary) issues one. If it’s at the time of creation or before the primary sale, we issue it as a primary SRR. They issue SRR when they deal with the artwork. We expect LU’s owner to be an artist him/herself, their representatives, or handlers’ employees. Handlers consist of galleries, auction houses, e-commerce service providers, etc. SRRs are issued by the single or multi-sig contract that we call Licensed Users (LU). An SRR represents one piece of artwork and the owner of the artwork and SRR should be the same. There are 661 SRRs as of writing this article. We issue NFT (ERC721) named Startrail Registry Record (SRR). We just want to make things better by having the database in a decentralized way and we want traditional art players to participate in the governance of that. Of course we don’t expose personal information to others without a clear agreement. We regard privacy as very important and we don’t want to crash how things work.

We don’t think 100% transparency is the right way to go.

Also, by not having the records, it’s hard to match owners and potential buyers. NFTs for digital data are revolutionary to certify the ownership and other rights, and although digital is so easy to copy, physical ones are just a little more harder to copy. This creates many problems - one is that it’s hard to assess the authenticity of artworks without the provenance. The art industry doesn’t have a major digital database of ownership, copyrights, etc, as implied above, in either a centralized or decentralized manner. I suppose many of you know about the rising non-fungible tokens (NFT) of digital artworks or collectibles, but there are common problems between the physical and digital here. At this moment, we mainly deal with physical artworks, rather than digital ones. Startrail is for managing histories of artworks such as ownership, copyrights, provenance, exhibitions, auctions, repairs, etc.
